Friends of the Children-Portland has been walking alongside youth for nearly 30 years. Our model is researched-based, rooted in love, and courageously distinct. We select the highest priority youth and pair them with paid, professional mentors, who we call Friends. Our model is founded on research showing that the single most important factor in overcoming childhood adversity is a long-term, nurturing relationship with a consistent and caring adult.
